Announcements

• More Skunks,  they've kind of invaded us this year.  Animal control is trapping them, but there's a bunch in the subdivision.  Skunks are nocturnal - homeowners should be careful walking after dark, especially with their dogs.  Skunks can carry rabies as well as distemper, so people should be aware if they see a drunk skunk in the daytime that it could be rabid.  Pet food on patios and bird feeder spills are attractive to skunks, and they like to dig for grubs in lawns.    

• Casa Golf Course is raising the price of Drinks, In times of economic distress what to do?  Raise prices!  Yes that what the bar and carts are doing. How about 50%.  Yes 50% increase.  A drink that was $3 at the bar and $4 from the cart is now $6.  That should be a real money maker.

• Trimming Palm Trees, The HOA Landscape Committee and Kokopelli recommend extending the time period in which to trim Palm trees to the end of August, 2010.  Homeowners with trees that are obviously in need should proceed, however, for the health of the tree, fronds need to be brown and hang down before trimming."

• Pool #2 and Spa #2,  are Now Open and heated.  Pool #1 the rock pool is 24 hours, but please keep the noise down. 

• Pool rules changed,  The age restrictions on using the Spa's has been resided, but young children can still have problems with high temperatures.

• Skunks?,  The four legged kind have been spotted and smelled.  If you need help the Animal Control people will come out and trap them for relocation.

• Interested in Saving Money on golf, dining, entertainment, spas, lodging, etc - then contact Crystal Camara at 346-1117 or her cell at 702-265-3119 (a resident of Sunset Greens) regarding the purchase of a Dixie Direct Savings Guide.  They sell for $35; which will easily pay for itself in just a few of the offers listed in the Guide.  She will be happy to bring one by for you to look at, or you can also check it out on the web at dixiedirectcard.com.  These books are good for the rest of the year.

• Homes Along the golf course!  if your tired of the dust and the mess, hope is alive.  A few homes along Harbour Dr. have got permission from the course to rock out to the service road.  Unfortunately this is at the homeowners expense, but it looks great and keeps the dust down. The cost is about $250 for 10 foot wide and villa size.  For information call Cheryl at 346-8555.

• Pool committee,  Is actively seeking people who would like to be involved and join us on the pool committee. We're a working committee - manual labor type work. While we review and make recommendations to the board re: pools, we also assist in the chores associated with swimming pools. Our major winter project will be Placing and removing the #2 pool covers at 9:30 pm and 9:30 a.m..

• CC&Rs Rewrite Committee,   Has submitted their draft for Board review.

• Trimming of Plants and Trees.  Many people want to trim their own.  To let the landscaping crew know what you want, you must put up a sign in Spanish and/or English.  You can have a fine sign made at Final Details.

• Water Heaters.  The Water heaters are going out throughout Sunset Greens.  In plan 5 they can soak into the bedroom closet.  When replacing, put a pan under the heater.  24" work the best.  You can also install the pan before the heater goes out, by draining , disconnecting, and then tilting.  Hardest part is making sure the heater is drained.  When replacing be sure to put in pan, only $20.

• Recall of certain GE Dishwashers.  There is a recall notice on the type of GE dishwashers installed in at least some of the units at SSG.  If a rinse aid has ever been used it may cause a fire.  You can have it repaired free or get $150 off new washer and $300 of GE profile series washers.  To check click http://www.geappliances.com/products/recall/dw07/

• Smoke Detector Batteries.  Someone has posted on the community bulletin board that they will change the batteries for free 345-5101 ask for Robert (U must supply the 9 volt batteries).

• Water Heater Anodes need to be changed every 3 to 4 years.  Keenan Supply in Las Vegas, 855 West Bonanza Rd.  702-382-7475 ask for Don Baker, has the fitting or call a plumber to do the job.  It's not hard for a handy person but does require pipe wrenches and Teflon tape.
